Enable immediate update in Kaspersky Endpoint Security
KES10; we currently have automatic updates to occur every two hours on managed computers. When I use a laptop that's been sitting in a closet for a while, it doesn't update the signatures right away but rather waits up to 2 hours before the updates are downloaded and installed. Is there a way to enable computers like this to immediately download updates when they are turned on and on the network? Thanks. Alex.

Those who are using KES10 on Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2, the recently released Update from Microsoft:

There hasn`t been an official Info from Kaspersky what this means for the users/admins. I`ll leave it here if anyone has problems with KES10 after the update as a "maybe cause".

kaspersky web control policy question
Dear Guys,
I have created a web control policy in Kaspersky security center 10 to block facebook for certain users. My question is this. Does it affect the outlook already configured in a PC, as this outlook is configured with gmail, and usually it receives social mails or notifications from facebook. I just wonder if this was the cause of one PC having outlook error - not able to send and receive - error: server does not support the connection encryption type. Coz I have reinstalled my office and have changed the encryption type to none but I'm still getting the same error in outlook.

KSC10(Server & Agent) Fix for Heartbleed vulnerability
Kaspersky has released a patch to fix Heartbleed vulnerability in both KSC10 10.0.3361 and 10.1.249.
The patch fixes the CVE-2014-0160 vulnerability in the OpenSSL library, which is utilized by Administration Server and Network Agent.

Kaspersky firewall question
We are rolling out Kaspersky 10 which is managed by KES10 on 2008R2 server. Most computers are in different subnets from where KES10 is (call it Main Subnet). After client installed and computers moved into Managed Computers with default policy, they stopped responding to pings and I can't RDP to them either. It all works if I RDP to their repspective sunbet's server which currently has an older AV client, and then I can RDP to my non-responding computers just fine. Sounds to me like that it's a Kaspersky firewall issue and default has some ICPM and Remote stuff blocked. Perhaps you can point me to a detailed documentation on KES10 (firewall) options or for now just let me know what I need to do on KES10 to tweak the policy so I can RDP to my other subnets from Main Subnet. We are not using windows firewall and our router firewall hasn't changed in respect to this rollout, so they are out of the question. Thanks. Alex.

Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 and vapm.exe
I've noticed vapm.exe running on computers with KES 10(.1 and .2) when users have been reporting slowness. That process is called "Kaspersky Security Center Vulnerability Assessment & Patch Management Component"
I use WSUS and Group Policy to manage patching so I don't need KES to do it.
I've turn off Vulnerability scan a long time ago because of slowness it creates. The task for every policy related to this is set to "Manual" and there are no scheduled tasks to run it.
In the Properties of the installation packages, I've unchecked Vulnerability Monitor but vapm.exe still runs on new installations.
How can I stop vapm.exe from running on ALL machines KES is protecting? I can't have it running out of control.

Kaspersky Center not updating IP when PC moved to another subnet
KES10 on 2008R2. Occasionally we deploy computers at the subnet where KES10 server is. Computers later moved to their respective subnets, but KES server doesn't update their new IP and thinks they are off-line. DNS on the server updates just fine and KES server can ping by name when computer moved, but the Center doesn't see or update the change. We worked around this deleting computers and re-scanning the subnets, but this is not very convenient of course. How do we get Kaspersky Center update IPs? Thanks. Alex.

Kaspersky and Malwarebytes
I had a user not able to change their IPv4 properties to static their IP address. We tried a variety of things like reinstalling the driver, virus scan with Kaspersky, and disabling the adapter and nothing worked. I ended up having to boot into safe mode and running Malwarebytes which then found a few things. Once I quarantined them, his adapter was working again. Why is Kaspersky not finding some of the things that another anti-malware software is?
Also I am having to use Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy to clean up another user's PC who just likes going to the dark side of the internet...daily.
I had to fight my boss to get a standardized anti-virus for the company and all and now it is making me/Kaspersky look bad when I have to keep running other software to clean up PCs. I somewhat understand the Spybot finding stuff that Kaspersky doesn't find since spyware is different than malware, even though I feel like it should be included.
Any suggestions or decent reasoning that I can use to battle with my boss on this?

KAV10: problems starting up client from admin console
I needed to turn off KAV 10 Endpoint Protection Maint Rel 1 for Windows on one of my servers for debugging purposes.
I created a task to stop the application, ran it, and was successful.
Then, I created another task to start up the client again.
When I run it, I get the informational statement that the application is not installed on that server. However, when I run the software version report, it does show that server with the correct version of the Endpoint Protection installed.
This seems to be the 2nd server that I have had this problem with. The first time, I had to reinstall the Endpoint client again.
Any suggestions on how to get the service running again without reinstalling (and rebooting)??

I do see after install on server2012 vm environment hyper replication does not work.
Not sure Kaspersky even compatible with windows server 2012 r2

Kaspersky license keeps expiring
KAV6 on w/s, KSC8 on the server. Recently purchased new 3-year licenses, pushed them to most workstations, personally updated on some others, but all w/s were up-to-date with new license. Every now and then some w/s report license expired and I have to re-add it manually over and over again until it takes it. Then after awhile same happens to another computer(s). Thanks. Alex.

Slow Kaspersky installation
Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 installation is very slow on some computers when pushed from the server. Computers are local to the Administration server. It didn't look like memory or disk i/o mattered as it was fast on some slower machines. It just sits there incrementing percent complete painfully slow. I noticed that "copying files to the target computer...." is the part that it sits at the longest. Admin server and PCs are on a gig switch in the same LAN. Thanks. Alex.
